A+ Boot Camp

This week I have A+ Boot Camp! The teacher is pretty funny and I'm learning a few things about the computer. So far we've gone over mostly hardware stuff, but now we're into software. I know most things, but most of the new things were in networking. It was about IP addresses and subnets. We're going to be using some of the more advanced features of networking at The Point, so I guess it's a good thing I'm learning about them. :-D For the course, they gave us a bag fully of books and stuff. Four of the books are specifically for this class and the fifth one is for studying for the test. They also gave us a toolkit and a multimeter. It's nice getting paid to take a class. :-)

On Monday, we had our first ACM meeting for the Fall semester. ACM was showing a live webcast of the ACM Turning Awards. This year it was given to two people who helped create TCP/IP, which is used on every computer connected to the Internet today. This was such a big event that ACM contributed $100 to pay for our refreshments. We ordered Chinese food and took the leftovers home to eat. So now I have a large tray of fried rice that I need to get rid of. I offered some to my roommate, but I think I'll have to eat most of it.

After training, I've mostly been rearranging my room and getting it exactly how I want it. I think I have things almost exactly where I want them, but my roommate wants to bring in his couch so we'll do a little bit more moving around. On Tuesday, I went to Josh's mod and we invited a few friends over. We ate pizza, watched Hitch, and generally had a good time.

I went back to my room early because I was tired. I didn't find out until this morning that having the air conditioner blow on me all night is affecting my sleep. Not only am I freezing in the morning, but I'm not sleeping well. My roommate likes the cold, so we'll probably switch beds or just turn the AC off before we head to bed. Well, back to class. Later!
